meeting Lily

While I was excited to leave for our Mexico trip, my heart hurt a little. To be leaving miss Monkey Pants of course, but also because we left while little Lily was still in the hospital. We tried to plan our trip accordingly, thinking that Beth and the baby would be home for quite a while by the end of February seeing how Weston was almost 3 weeks early. Well, Lily had other plans. She was not early, but rather late instead and then got pretty sick. I didn't like the feeling of jetting off to a tropical vacation while Beth and Kurt were going through so much. Not that I was any help at home, but you know what I mean.

All is well now. Lily is home and doing great. And of course when we got back I was pretty excited to meet her for the first time. Oh is she cute! On Friday she came over for her newborn shoot. Beth was pretty sure that she wouldn't sleep for us, but she did. And she let me put her in all kinds of fun shots. I knew I was going to like this kid :).

Cute hat from aunt Robin...

Just look at the rolls she has already. Love it!

my favs...

But these are so precious too...

Mr. Nug is so sweet with his new little sister. And I still can't get enough of his huge blue eyes...

Congratulations Beth and Kurt. Boy do you make cute babies!

Mexico

Last Thursday Shane and I snuck off to Mexico for our long awaited "we made it through law school trip". We went to Isla Mujeres, a little island that is about a 30 minute ferry ride from Cancun and far far away from the big spring break zone. It was the perfect place for us. A small, authentic, and sweet community, but with all the perks of a luxurious hotel.

We got upgraded to a suite with an ocean view...no arguments here!

Our first full day it was chilly and rainy, and we were told that we should expect more of the same for the rest of the week.

So, we spent that day trying to get over the disappointment and just appreciate a chilly week in Mexico. We contemplated buying matching bahas since swimsuits weren't gonna cut it. And then, praise the Lord, we woke up the next day and the sun came out. It was warm and sunny every day after. Perfect.

We went snorkeling, scuba diving, laid around and drank margaritas, walked around the cute town at night, laughed together, and discovered that we really do still like each other quite a bit. Not just love, like.

It was awesome.

More tomorrow, but for now I need to get back to miss Monkey Pants. I missed her like crazy. Nothing like a no-nap day to transition you right back to motherhood :).

If you are waiting for a call or email back from me I'll get to it as soon as I can. Adios!

Charlie 7 mos

This week Charlie came over for her latest photo shoot. I had the amazing opportunity of photographing her birth and have had so much fun watching her grow since then. I hadn't seen her in a few months. I figured she had gotten even cuter, but OH MY GOODNESS.

I was literally giggling with excitement while editing these. She's just adorable.

I usually have to resist the urge to squeeze my clients. Fortunately Charlie is our friends Scott and Sarah's little girl, so I knew they wouldn't mind me squeezing and smooching her cheeks a little. Because I mean, how could I not?

I just couldn't resist getting a shot of those dimpled buns...

Thanks Charlie! It was fun playing!

tiny triplets

On Monday I had the pleasure of photographing some tiny little triplets. Meet Emma, Jack, and Grace...

Oh my goodness. They are so itsy bitsy and sweet. We put them together for some snuggle time. Little Emma just couldn't fall asleep...

It was like she just had to keep an eye on the other two. Too cute...

Thirty little toes...

My fav...

The whole family...

With two big brothers it's a full house! Such a sweet family. Thanks for the opportunity and congratulations!

E is for Emma

I had another tiny Emma come to the studio last week. Love this "E" necklace that her momma got when she was born...

Emma was really sleepy. And really adorable.

And then she opened her eyes just long enough for me to see how beautiful they are...

Thanks guys!

Happy Valentines Day

It was a nice Valentines Day around here. Church, lunch with family, some errands were run, then a fancy steak dinner at home with my Valentine. I even cooked some potatoes in my heart shaped pot. One of my favorite unexpected wedding gifts...

Every year Shane and I write in a Valentines Day journal. We each list 50 things we love about each other. I enjoy it every time. And its fun to read the lists from years past. When I took this photo today I was struck by how few pages were filled and how many were empty, and I smiled at the thought of how many more Valentines Days we will have together.

Thank you to all of you who have been praying for Beth and little Lily. She will be in the hospital for a while longer but is responding well to the treatment. I still haven't gotten to meet her sweet face because she's been tucked away healing up, but I can't wait to see those cheeks.

Hope you had a great Valentines Day!

prayers for Lily Louise

Last night Beth had her baby girl. She was about a week overdue so we were all anxiously waiting for her. Lily Louise came in to the world super fast weighing in at 8lbs 2oz. and 19.5 inches long. Beth is doing well today but Lily is in the NICU and will be for a little while. She seems to have an infection, they are still running some tests to find out exactly what is going on. So please pray for Lily and Beth and Kurt while everything is sorted out and Lily heals. I haven't gotten to see her in person yet, but I saw a photo and she is beautiful and round and I am fairly certain she is going to be just as nugalicious as her big brother.

Welcome to the world Lily. I love you already.
