SUCCESS!

Last week I missed my Weight Watchers meeting because I did a mural in a baby's room for a client all day. This week I worked my butt off. I was determined to have a good weigh in. I worked out every day and really watched my points. Today was weight in day and... I lost 2.4 more pounds! Aaaahhh! I am pretty excited. That brings the total to 18.2 so just 1.8 more to go. I am so surprised and very happy. I was getting a little nervous that I would never reach that 20 pound goal, but it looks like I just might get there!

I celebrated a little today with a pedi and mani courtesy of my momma. Thanks mom! Don't you love the funny names that they name nail polish? My shade of choice today...Wanted, Red or Alive. Mom's choice...Clubbin Till Sunrise. That mom, she's always clubbin.

Kids for Kairos wrap up

I finished out the Kids for Kairos fundraiser recently when I met this cute family for their rain date shoot. We fit most of the shoots in on the original day, but it really poured during the Rose's time slot so we had to reschedule.

A bunch of really cute kids...

and two really fun parents...

Thanks again to everyone who participated in this fundraiser. We raised $500 for the Kairos Christian School in Guatemala! And that is awesome. Thanks for helping these kiddos...

scott + sarah + belly

Last week I met up with some close friends of mine for a maternity shoot. Sarah and Scott are expecting a little girl next month.

Sarah is a ridiculously cute pregnant lady. Like she is just storing a basketball up her shirt. Its pretty annoying... I mean adorable. I love you Sarah, I'm just jealous.

We did some shots in the studio. This one is my favorite...

Then we headed to the Central West End for some urban shots...

And then found a grassy field for a different look..

If all goes as planned I will have the honor of documenting the birth of this little baby. Can't wait to meet you Charlie!

Brendan

Last week Brendan came over for a little play date. His mom Lisa is one of my faithful blog readers and she won a shoot a few months ago on a blog giveaway.

It was raining on and off all morning before our shoot and I was afraid that we might have to cancel. But, it cleared up just in time and the humidity just made this little guy's curls even cuter. And the puddles just made our time together more fun.

He splished

and splashed

and took a little rest

and kept looking at me with those huge blue eyes. I did not alter them in Photoshop folks. They are just that blue.

He also introduced me to his new baby sister Molly.

So sweet. Something tells me he is going to be a pretty great older brother.

If it weren't for the goat cheese...

...this day might have done me in. I am used to looking forward to Friday nights. After a long week of flying solo at night for the sometimes dreaded bed time routine, having Shane home for the night was pretty exciting. So, I'm afraid that it is the Friday nights that might do me in this summer. Shane has bar prep class every night including Friday night now and Saturday mornings. It really stinks.

But, the end is in sight. Just a few more months of this. Marlie is bathed and sleeping soundly in her crib. I finally got a shower in. The kitchen is clean. A yummy candle is lit and I am working a bit while watching a movie and eating a goat cheese pizza. I am slightly obsessed with goat cheese these days. Its warm and gooey and low in fat and I am in love.

*this is not my actual pizza. I just googled it.

I am a little behind on blogging sneak peeks from last weeks sessions. Tomorrow I have four more shoots so chances are I might not ever quite catch up on those. So, if you are waiting for a sneak peek and I don't end up blogging it, please forgive me. I love you dear clients. I'm just swamped right now.

Have a good weekend! Try some baked goat cheese. For real, its good.

checking in with Monkey Pants

So, ever since Mista Nug's interview a few months back I have been trying to get an interview with Miss Monkey Pants. She is a very busy girl so it was no easy task. Finally today I caught her at a good moment and she agreed to answer some questions for us.

me: Miss Monkey Pants, it looks like you have a little time on your hands. Would you mind putting your milk down for a moment and answering some questions for us?

MP: O.K. mom, but make it quick. What's up?

me: Well, tell us what you have been up to lately. I hear that you are two years old now. That's big time.

MP: Ha Ha! Yep, I'm two. Its awesome.

me: You are talking a lot more these days. What are some of your favorite phrases?

MP: Ummm. I cob whichyoo (Can I come with you?) Eeees my tearn (Its my turn) and finally' I getcha boo boo (Look out I'm gonna get you).

me: What's up with all of the picky eating? What do you have against sandwiches, or vegetables, macaroni and cheese, or peanut butter and jelly?

MP: I don't know mom, its just gross.

me: Marlie, put your dress down please.

MP: Oh mom, I'm just showing you my belly button. Isn't it awesome? Remember when you found a cheerio perfectly stuck in there?

me: Yes, that was funny. Its a good place to hide things. Now focus. This is a tough one. How do you feel about potty training? You seem to avoid the topic every time I bring it up.

MP: Mom! I'm so embarrased. Lets talk about something else.

me: Marlie, come on, what's the story?

MP: You are pushing it mom. I just don't want to talk about it.

me: Don't you want to be a big girl and go on the potty?

MP: Alright thats it. I'm out. I have toys to throw.

a day full of babies

On Friday two tiny babies came to the studio for newborn shoots. They were both very sleepy and let us put them in all kinds of fun spots.

First little Claire came over.

Back wrinkles! Love baby back wrinkles.

Then she woke up and just looked right at me.

Later on little Sam came over.

He just slept and slept.

Oh my goodness. Don't you kind of want to put them in your pocket? Ooh I might try that next time :).
